A camp brief should help a family decide whether an event fits the athlete's goals and logistics without implying that attendance guarantees coach evaluation or recruiting interest.

Identify the event owner

Record the official event name, host, sport, date, location, and source page. Distinguish a college-run camp from an event merely held on or near a campus.

List who is stated to attend

Copy current staff or program participation only from the event source and date it. Avoid treating an old coach list or promotional partner logo as a confirmed attendee.

Map the athlete's reason for considering it

Write the specific evaluation, development, exposure, or campus question the family hopes to address. The reason should connect to the athlete's target list and stage.

Capture requirements and restrictions

Include age, graduation year, position limits, equipment, waivers, check-in, refund terms, and any required documents. Link each item rather than reducing all rules to a yes or no.

Build the full logistics picture

Note travel time, schedule conflicts, meals, supervision, lodging needs, and a family contact plan. Leave costs private in the working brief and out of public-facing copy.

End with decision questions

List what remains unknown and who can answer it. The VA can assemble evidence, but the athlete and family should decide whether the event fits their priorities.
