When a college staff page changes, a recruiting VA can verify the new contact and preserve context without assuming that prior interest, promises, or responsibilities transfer.
Verify the change on current sources
Check the college athletics directory and program announcement. Record the date and avoid treating a social post or bounced email alone as complete evidence.
Pause scheduled outreach
Stop drafts and reminders addressed to the former role until the new recipient is confirmed. Keep any external deadline visible while the contact question is resolved.
Preserve the original thread
Do not rewrite the history under a new name. Save who said what, when, and in which role so the athlete can explain the prior conversation accurately.
Ask who owns recruiting contact now
Use the current directory or athletics office to identify the right person. A new title does not prove that the same staff member manages the athlete's graduation class or position.
Let the athlete reintroduce context
Prepare a concise factual summary, then have the athlete approve the message and personal interest language. Do not state that earlier attention continues unless the new staff confirms it.
Refresh connected records
Update the target list, contact card, calendar, draft queue, and research notes. Retain the old contact as historical rather than allowing two active versions.
